Australian Passports – Adult Applicants

 This information sheet should be read in conjunction with the Australian passport application form. Please complete and print the appropriate form from the website www.passports.gov.au

 

Renewal - to replace an existing undamaged adult Australian passport

 

Applicants must bring the following with them to the passport interview:

If you are unable to print a Renewal Application from the online site please email our office at the address listed overleaf.

Renewal Applications may be lodged at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok and at the office of the Australian Honorary Consul in Phuket. Please contact our Bangkok office for further information.

  


Full Application

to replace a lost, stolen or damaged Australian passport; OR
where the passport is the applicant’s first adult Australian passport
 

 

Applicants must bring the following with them to the passport interview:

If your Australian passport has been lost or stolen you must also present a Thai police report and pay an additional lost/stolen fee.

Your new passport will take 10 working days to process. If you need to travel on your current passport while your new one is processed, please advise staff at the interview. If you choose this option you will need to present your current passport to us for cancellation before your new one can be released to you.

If you choose to have your current passport cancelled at the interview, your new document can be mailed to you in Thailand or collected in person from the Australian Embassy Bangkok.

Full Applications may only be lodged at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok. 

 

Fees
to be paid in THB cash at the passport interview

 

Fees, in Australian dollars, for adult passports are as follows:

$ 312.00 (10 years/64 pages)
$ 208.00 (10 years/32 pages)

Fees are payable in Thai Baht cash at the time of lodgement of the passport application. The fee is linked to the AUD/THB exchange rate and is re-aligned each month. Please check the current Thai baht fee with the Embassy.

Please contact us for information on additional fees payable if your passport has been lost or stolen.

 

Other Travel Documents
Issue of other Australian travel documents

 

Applicants must be interviewed in person at the Australian Embassy Bangkok. Issue of these travel documents is subject to meeting special requirements.

Under some circumstances a limited-validity Emergency Passport or other type of travel document may be issued to facilitate urgent travel to Australia. Please contact the Consular Services Section for further information.

 

Passports for Seniors
75 years of age and older
 

 

Applicants aged 75 years of age and older may request a senior’s passport. A senior’s passport is valid for 5 years and the fee is half the normal fee.

Child’s Passport Application
One parent must be interviewed. Your child does not need to attend
 
 

The lodging parent must bring the following to the passport interview:

If your child’s Australian passport has been lost or stolen you must also present a Thai police report and pay an additional lost/stolen fee. Please contact us for information on these additional fees.

Our processing office in Canberra may request additional documents after the application has been assessed by them. We will contact you if any additional documentation is needed.

Your child’s new passport will take 10 working days to process. If your child needs to travel on their current passport while the new one is processed, please advise staff at the interview. If you choose this option you will need to present the child’s current passport to us for cancellation before the new one can be released to you.

If you choose to have your child’s current passport cancelled at the interview, the new document can be mailed to you in Thailand or collected in person from the Australian Embassy Bangkok.

Child’s Passport Without the Consent of Both Parents Named on the Birth Cert

 

Refer to www.passports.gov.au/Web/Newppt/Consent.aspx   Applications without the consent of parents named on the child’s birth certificate must be referred to Canberra. A decision may take up to 6 weeks. 

It is advisable not to make firm plans or pay for tickets until approval for the issue of the child’s passport has been confirmed.

• the holder of a current Australian passport with at least two years validity; or
• the local equivalent of the occupational categories listed below.
